first annual Archives Week celebration
October 8-14, 2005
“Celebrating the Treasures from the Tar Heel State”
Archives Week is a week-long observance of
the agencies and people responsible for maintaining and making available the
archival and historical records of our nation, state, communities, and
people. The Archives and Records Section
will participate in this inaugural celebration with several events during the
week. Several exhibits are planned for
display in the Search Room and in the lobby near the Search Room. These exhibits include replicas of World War
I posters, an exhibit on the lifecycle of records, and a history of the North
Carolina State Archives. In addition,
each day of the week a different subject matter will be featured in a display
in the Search Room. Monday, October 10
the Carolina Charter will be on display, along with several other “treasures”
from our collections. Tuesday’s display
will feature items from the
A behind the scenes tour of the Archives’ stacks will be
