We collect materials from the South, states bordering southern states, and other states from the original 13 colonies prior to 1850. We provide HeritageQuest remotely to patrons with library cards as well as have it available in the Robinson-Spangler Carolina Room. Ancestry.com Library Edition is available in the Robinson-Spangler Carolina Room only. We have a scanner available for public use, as well as film reader/printers that will produce muliple sized copies. We have a zoom text program on one computer for patrons with vision problems. Genealogy Room: No Collection Size: 58,000 + cataloged volumes with at least 1/2 dedicated to genealogy and 1/4 dedicated to history; more than 1,000 linear feet of school annuals, city directories, periodicals, and surname files; family papers, photographs and letters in the vault; microfilm, fiche, photographs, historic postcards, audio materials and maps; over 10,000,000 negatives from The Charlotte Observer newspaper
