Problems viewing the NC Taxes Webinar

It appears the link sent in the registration email was somewhat scrambled, and clicking on the link in some cases results in an error message.

Copying the link and pasting it into a new browser window works for most people.

Those registering from this point forward should have no trouble.

If you have already registered, and copying and pasting the link still does not work for you, please email the Webmaster for a new link.

We apologize for any inconvenience.

Website outage

We recently experienced an issue with DNS name servers pointing incorrectly, which in effect meant the addressing to our site was broken. The problem was identified and corrected, and we're back.

We apologize for any inconvenience.

This has also affected our email - it may take a few days before we are able to receive/respond to any email sent to the NCGS Administrator or the Webmaster.

UPDATE: 22 Jun 2014 - Our email appears to be functioning normally, once again.

UPDATE! NC Loose Estates – 3,371,321 Images!!!

The NC Loose Estates Records indexing project was just updated!  There are now 3,371,321 images that are indexed and freely available!

As of January 29th, 68 out of 100 North Carolina counties have been indexed by decedent, in part or in whole! Currently, there are 138,899 individual estates that are indexed!

Check out this valuable resource for your North Carolina ancestral research:

Also available at our shortened link:

Don't see your county of interest? Please consider joining as a volunteer indexer! All you need is a computer and internet access. The software is provided, and a video tutorial and Wiki page have been created to answer any questions. Will you donate a little of your time?

For more information, or to volunteer, please contact Vickie Scott at firstvicepresident@ncgenealogy.org.

Indexing the North Carolina Estate Files

As an aid to researchers, a new project is underway to index the names found in the "North Carolina Estate Files, 1663-1978".

These can be found by clicking on the Loose Estates Index tab, under the Resources tab on the main menu bar.

The master name index is statewide, and each county index provides a list of all names found in that county.

Four more counties have just been added, for a grand total (so far) of 24 counties and 60,770 names.
