Calling All Volunteers

We are on the lookout for multiple reliable volunteers to help progress the work of the North Carolina Genealogy Society. NCGS relies on your help to produce valuable resources and educational content.

Do you enjoy deciperhing old handwriting? Are you detail-oriented and focused on ensuring names and dates are correct? You may be the perfect candidate for Bible record transcription. You will transcribe North Carolina related Bible records (from digital images) and format them according to provided guidelines.

Do you prefer working with typed records? Are you a reader of the NCGS Journal? If so, we need help indexing our journals. Each issue of the journal is indexed for surnames and place names. This information is added to our Master Index which currently includes all journals through 2016. The index is searchable, so you can type in a specific person or place and see if either appears in any journal issue. Guidance is provided to the indexer.

In addition to the volunteer positions, we are also searching for any North Carolina related Bible records to include in Bible Records of North Carolina Volume 2. If you are the owner or custodian of a family Bible and wish to have the family information preserved and shared, please send us PDF or jpeg images of the Bible records, along with the Bible information.

All interests can be directed to the Publications Chair at publications@ncgenealogy.com.
