Happy New Year!  Bet you haven’t heard that yet. Another year means four more issues of the journal and many opportunities for you to join in the fun and share a family image, story, neat resource or anything else related to your Tar Heel ancestors.

(1) April-May-June 2020 on African American Research [discussed in a previous Journal Jottings]
(2) July-August-September 2020 on Boundary Changes [discussed in a previous Journal Jottings]
(3) October-November-December 2020 on Migration

So many North Carolinians migrated into the state from elsewhere, migrated across the state and then often migrated out of the state. It is rare to find a family with North Carolina connections where at least someone and maybe even the whole family migrated.  Do you have any photos or images or stories of your ancestors as they moved? Did they migrate unusually frequently or head east as others headed west? Have you come across a neat resource (beyond the census) that documents those who have migrated elsewhere and yet claim NC as a birth-place?

These stories, images, and more would be welcome contributions to the NCGS Journal.  

Please send your contributions for any of the three listed topics to journaleditor@ncgenealogy.org.  Submission deadlines are one month before the journal’s publication window.  So, for example, for April-May-June, the deadline is 1 March.

Facebook
Many of us take advantage of the social media platform Facebook for our genealogy needs. Sometimes we ask questions, answer questions, share resources, link to great information and so much more.  One thing many do are to post family photos. Did you know that NCGS has a Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/ncgenealogy/?  Did you know that items are being posted such as the following?

Did you see this post? Did you shake your head “yes” as you read the question?  If so, did you post a picture or share a story or contact me? If not, why not? Sharing your pictures and/or stories can be just so much fun!  We all love to see personal images and hear personal stories. And, it’s not too late! You can still find the above Facebook post and share your ancestors with us.  We’d love to meet them! 

If you don’t want to share on Facebook, feel free to email me the image(s) and/or story(ies) you want to share or tag @ncgenealogy in a tweet or send a link to a pinterest page item!  We are not fussy about how you share your family with us, just please do so!
